There’s little doubt that seafood is delicious and nutritious. Switch up your weeknight dinner routine by throwing seafood into the mix: it could be shrimp, it could be salmon, it could be crabs. No matter what you choose, here is some inspiration for incorporating seafood into your next meal!
It’s Incredibly Nutritious
As we said above, fish and other types of seafood are incredibly nutritious. Some vitamins and nutrients you can get by eating seafood include omega-3s, iron, Vitamin B, and Vitamin D. Eating fish and shellfish help you in more ways than one: it helps develop stronger bones, healthier brains, and a strong heart and immune system.
Family Bonding Time
Because of social distancing, having a huge crab feast might be out of the question this year. However, this shouldn’t discourage you from having family bonding time – teach your kids how to cook the fish, even if it’s from the grocery store and not caught down by the lake.
It’s Easy to Cook
Many times, beginning cooks are afraid to tackle seafood. However, it’s actually easy to cook. It will take at most fifteen minutes to prepare, depending on what type of seafood it is you are cooking. For example, test a fish to see if it’s ready. All you need is a simple fork. Stick the fork in at an angle at the thickest part of the fish. Twist the fork. The fish should be nice and flaky and no longer look raw on the inside.
Surprising Versatility
When you think of seafood, your mind might automatically think of fish and chips or orange roughy. Surprisingly enough, seafood is incredibly versatile. It can be enjoyed fresh, frozen, or canned. In fact, most of the time when you bring seafood home, it has already been frozen as a way to store or transport it from one state to another.
