Most of us have a list of Christmas memories as long as Santa’s lists of the naughty and nice. We can recall, during early mornings where we dragged our parents out of bed, rushing downstairs, our hands gripped tightly to the banister so we wouldn’t lose our balance on the race to see the presents under the tree. And when we got there, that spread of gifts was almost as magical as witnessing flying reindeer pulling a great sled through the sky. Tearing open the presents was equally as spellbinding, each ribbon undone and piece of wrapping paper rapidly ripped away an all too anticipatory step to seeing the present inside.
But what if those memories didn’t exist, or they were few and far between? The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation seeks to make sure every child will one day be able to reminisce over Christmas’ past. Every year, they collect new, unwrapped toys in the months leading up to Christmas and then see to it that those presents make their way under the trees and in the homes of needy children.
With their endeavors, this non-profit organization seeks to “deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders” (Source).
At Costa’s Inn, a Baltimore seafood restaurant, we hope to help in this mission to improve the lives of our local children, which is why we’ve designated ourselves a drop-off location for Toys for Tots this holiday season. We encourage our customers to come in, generously donate a gift, and then let us serve you generous portions of our famed seafood and other delicious dishes. We’ve got something for everyone on our menu, literally leaving you filled with the holiday spirit! Here’s our contact and drop-off information for the project – we’ll be collecting toys from the November 23rd – December 17th.
