Costas Inn in the News
USA Today 10 Best
USA Today’s 10 Best website features professional reviewers making their picks for the best attractions in cities across the country. They recently picked Costas Inn as the #1 Baltimore Seafood Restaurant! Here’s what they had to say:
Costas Inn has its own take on seasoning for steamed crabs: they don’t just throw a bunch of Old Bay and black pepper on them. It has a distinct sweetness to it — perhaps some toasted onion in there. It’s beloved by celebrities and food authors, including David Rosengarten and the folks on the Today show. In the mood for something to start with (or instead of crabs)? Their Oysters Rockefeller are truly must-get. Run! They do a twist on the Pernod sauce with Amaretto. This lends a sweetness to the already sweet-fresh oysters that’s perfect. You could definitely order the 5 oyster size (also available in 3 oyster size portion) for your lunch or light-ish dinner and be completely satisfied. Family owned, their rice pudding recipe is their mom’s. The dining room is family oriented and the bar is a party. They have live music on Friday nights.
Vacation Idea
Vacation Idea is a resource for travelers to use to find things to do in destination cities. We were fortunate to be on their list of 23 Best Things to Do in Baltimore! Here’s what they had to say:
Costas Inn is a Baltimore institution that has been in operation since 1971. It is an enormous, no-frills establishment that somehow manages to feel homey and comfortable at the same time. People come to Kostas from all over the world; word has gotten out about this fantastic inn thanks to a few TV appearances featuring their famous crabs.
They have an extensive menu with some fantastic soups and great pit beef, but most people come to Kostas for the crabs. They are flown in daily, graded, and hand sorted and only the freshest and most flavorful crabs reach the customers’ tables. The crab cakes are fantastic too. You can now even order their crabs online, anywhere in the country. Kostas has live music on Friday nights and karaoke on Saturday nights. Sundays are reserved for NFL Football – you can enjoy your crabs while watching all NFL games on ten huge plasma TVs.
Many thanks for the kind words, Vacation Idea and USA Today 10 Best!
