Who says Date Night can only be a thing around Valentine’s Day? Romance lasts all year long. Date nights can also be a weekly recurring event. Imagine this: curling up with your significant other over pizza and wine. Then you watch movies or shows that are the latest streaming sensation. No matter what your routine is like, shake it up with some fresh takes on seafood dinners.
Vodka Oyster Shooters
Let’s get the party started! When you concoct some of these unusual shots, you can let the good times roll. Vodka helps boost the flavors of the oysters themselves. Experiment with cooling the shot glasses down with ice. Then spritz the shooters with some citrus twists courtesy of lemon and lime.
Deep-Fried Oyster Fritters
Another tantalizing seafood appetizer idea also involves oysters. If you adore hush puppies, you’ll adore deep-fried oyster fritters. Chopped oysters are stuffed into the crunchy and crispy shells. Use cookie scoops to form the batter into bite-sized balls before adding them to the frying pan.
Mexican-Style Shrimp Ceviche
We’ve told you about ceviche before. Well, this Mexican-inspired seafood recipe calls for using shrimp. Martini glasses make for an elegant presentation. Once the shrimps have been lightly poached, marinate them in freshly squeezed lime juice. Go one step further and add cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, onions, and cilantro. All of it should be treated to a tangy sauce that will awaken your appetite!
Colorful Tuna Tartare
Tuna tartare sounds bland at first. Give it a chance! You might be pleasantly surprised if you do. Sushi-grade tuna enhances the experience. The dressing comes from white wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
Meanwhile, the fish benefit from diced cucumbers, kosher salt, ground black pepper, and red bell peppers. Shallots, potatoes, parsley, mayonnaise, and sour cream round out the rest. You can substitute the sour cream for Greek yogurt if you prefer. Four servings count as an appetizer, but for just you and that special someone, it can be a light dinner before the main event.
