Seafood is like a gift that keeps on giving. There are so many different ways to prepare it. No matter what you’re in the mood for, take some expert advice from your favorite local crab house. Everyone in Baltimore County deserves to treat themselves – especially with the end-of-year holiday rush coming up. This season can be super hectic, but you don’t have to feel perplexed when you’re trying to come up with an award-winning crab dinner.
What Things Do You Need?
First things first, you’ll need a handful of items to get your next batch of beer-boiled crabs rolling along. Collect your favorite six-pack of beer (it doesn’t really matter which brand, although for the full effect, you might want to track down some Natty Boh!) Next, prepare a heaping helping of our in-house blend of Costas Inn’s signature crab seasoning. Of course, your whole experiment will be for nothing without enough crabs for everybody to eat. And make sure you have a large pot and a pair of heavy-duty tongs at the ready before you start cooking!
Fill Up the Large Pot
It’s time to fill the pot. The mixture you use should equal one part water and three parts beer. Add enough liquid to cover the crabs you plan to boil. Once the liquids are boiling, toss in the Costas secret formula seasoning. One tablespoon is enough, but honestly, that’s something you measure from the heart.
Drop the Crabs In
After ten minutes of steady boiling, it’s time to simmer the crabs. Drop them into the pot as carefully as you can so you don’t splash yourself with hot watered-down beer. If there isn’t enough liquid for the crabs to float in, pour in more beer. That’s a crab house secret that we bet you didn’t know before!
Cover Pot and Boil
The next step is simple: cover the pot. Allow the crabs to boil for 5-10 minutes. We say that because the time differs depending on how many crabs you have and how big they are.
Use Tongs to Retrieve Crabs
Now that the crabs are about ready use tongs to pull them out. Then look at the crabs to confirm they are red all the way through and fully cooked. Proceed to dunk them in dipping sauces!
