On Monday, October 22nd, Costas Inn – named after first-generation Greek immigrant Costas N. Triantafilos, who came to the States in the early 1800s with his soon-to-be bride Tsambika Kefalas – is joining forces with two modern-day Greek goddesses: Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne of Georgetown Cupcakes.
The Greek America Foundation – a non-profit dedicated to “promot[ing], preserv[ing], and perpetuat[ing] Greek culture, history, and heritage in North America” is hosting a book signing in the dining room at Costas Inn, featuring Sweet Celebrations, the newly released book from the equally sweet sister duo behind the television show DC Cupcakes. In the TLC reality show, which has proven to be as addictive as their desserts, these entrepreneurs document their bakery business venture, showcasing their day-to-day lives, including the charitable events they contribute to and the importance of their Greek heritage. After all, it was their Greek grandmother who showed them how to bake, and the cupcake recipes that have made them famous are modified versions of the cakes their grandmother taught them to make as children.
The event, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm next Monday, is free to the public, but tickets have to be printed online through Eventbrite here, as walk-ins will not be permitted. Books must be purchased either at the event or through the Greek America Foundation website; this ensures proceeds go towards the cause.
The frosting on top of the cupcake? Afterwards, you can dine at Costas. Make a reservation here, and stay to enjoy some of our nationwide-recognized crabcakes and seafood specialities. While you’re waiting for your food, you can flip through Sophie and Katherine’s book, which showcases photos from their trips to Greece, traditional Greek dessert recipes, and of course – cupcake baking tips galore.
Founded in 1971, Costas Inn has been a family owned and operated restaurant for over 40 years, inspired by the Greek immigrants who came over hundreds of years ago in hopes of realizing the “American Dream.” We know you’ll think our menu offerings are a dream, too, and we hope you’ll come out to help us celebrate our origins next week with the ladies of Georgetown Cupcakes. Spread the word, and join the Facebook event here.

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything.
However just imagine if you added some great photos or video
clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images
and video clips, this blog could certainly be one of the best in its niche.
Wonderful blog!
