The state of Maryland is known for a lot of things. This list includes our colorful state flag, the Chesapeake Bay, lacrosse, and probably most notably the availability of blue crabs! Did you know that Costas Inn has crabs available all year long? We ship our crabs all across the U.S! There is never a wrong time to host a crab feast! If you are a rookie when it comes to crab feasts, here is everything you will need!
Side Dishes
The only major drawback to dining on crabs is that they are not overly filling on their own. For most people, they will need to eat several crabs to satisfy their hunger. The best crab feasts also feature fantastic side dishes pair with the crabs. A major staple is corn on the cob. A delicious trick is to use the melted butter that you have using to dip your crab meat to pour overtop your corn on the cob. Other favorite side dishes for crab feasts include boiled shrimp, cole slaw, and french fries.
Paper Towels, Newspaper, and Hand Wipes
Picking crabs is a messy job. For that reason, it is essential to be equipped with ample amounts of paper towels. When someone asks you to pass a side dish, you don’t want to be passing the bowl with dirty hands! It is also a good idea to have hand wipes available as well. They are much better for cleaning crab seasoning off your fingertips.
Tools
It is next to impossible to pick a crab without having the proper tools! The most important one being crab mallets. They are essential when it comes to cracking open a crab’s claws. If you try to do it by bare hand, you will just end up injuring yourself. Other tools for picking crabs include crab picks and crackers.
