For many people who have gluten sensitivity, it’s easy to feel left out when looking at restaurant menus. Fortunately, many establishments are glad to cater to your needs, whether you decide to dine-in, get a curbside takeaway, or want to order for some delivery because you would rather not leave home. Something for you to try is this delicious recipe for making gluten-free crab cakes!
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you need to use:
- 1 pound of lump crab meat
- 1 small finely diced bell pepper
- 1 small onion – sweet yellow, also finely diced
- 2 or 3 large cloves of minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 15 gluten-free crackers (coarse)
- 1 large egg that has been lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons of mayo
- 1 tablespoon of mustard, not dry
- 1 teaspoon of our house spice mix
- ½ cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
- A dash of salt and pepper to taste
- Optional paprika
- 2 or 3 tablespoons of olive oil
Preparation
Saute the minced pepper, onion, and garlic in some olive oil for about four minutes. Do this on medium heat, but don’t let it brown. Put the crackers in a plastic bag and crush until they are coarse, using a rolling pin or a round drinking glass. Then mix the crab meat with the sauteed veggies, crushed-up crackers, egg, mayo, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and our house seasoning using a large spatula. Shape the cakes and then put GF all-purpose flour in a shallow dish with salt, pepper, and paprika, but the paprika is optional. Dust the cakes with flour and then pan-fry in the olive oil until golden brown on both sides; remember to use medium heat.
