The Baltimore Orioles are back in town, and we can’t wait to take in the first home game of the year here with you at Costas Inn! Join us this afternoon for Orioles baseball!
Let’s Go O’s!
The O’s return to Baltimore with the AL East crown for the first time since 1997, and the fans are loving it! After a brief playoff appearance in 2012, fans got excited about baseball in Baltimore for the first time in many years. The birds missed the playoffs in 2013, but put together back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since ’96-’97, a feat that gave many hope for better things to come. And in 2014, the Orioles delivered. The team easily took the AL East title, and took down the Tigers in the divisional series before suffering a disappointing sweep against the Kansas City Royals in the ALCS.
Oriole fans were quick to put that out of their minds, however, and we’re more excited for the 2015 season than we have been in a long time. The O’s have started off well, with their first series wins against the Rays in Tampa Bay. True to form, the Orioles look like they’ll be making use of the long-ball this year, with home runs from Steve Pearce, Alejandro De Aza, and Ryan Flaherty in the opener. Plus, newcomer Travis Snider made his mark in right field, with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, a diving catch, and a throw that nabbed a runner at home to protect the lead. We’ll miss Markakis, but if Snider keeps playing like that, the Orioles have a lot to look forward to.
Today, the Orioles face the Blue Jays, with game time at 3:05 PM. Fresh off a 15-win season, Bud Norris will take the mound for the O’s, against Mark Buehrle for the Jays. So if you’re not going to the game, join us here at Costas Inn and help us cheer on the team in the home opener! Let’s go O’s!
