March Madness is here, and after the first day of competition it looks like we’ll have plenty of interesting storylines to follow, and maybe even the makings of a cinderella or two. Two 12 seeds knocked out their 5th seeded opponents, with Harvard eeking out a 4 point win over Cincinnati, and North Dakota State beating Oklahoma. 11th seeded Dayton also won a 1-point thriller against 6th seed Ohio State. Florida beat 16th seeded Albany by a less than convincing margin given their #1 seed, and they’ll go on to face 9th seeded Pitt, who throttled Colorado by almost 30 points. If you had Florida going far in your bracket, their next game might be a nail-biter.
There are plenty of good games on the schedule for today, so come on down to Costas Inn for all day madness! The remaining 3 #1 seeds will be facing off against their opponents today, will we see a #16 upset for the first time in history? Nate Silver’s 538 bracket gives Coastal Carolina a 4% chance against UVA (who lost to Maryland in UMD’s final game in the ACC), you never know what could happen.
